![]() ![]() She then runs into the woods, where the trees appear to morph around her before she passes out. Dani goes to hide in a shed but is mortified by what appears to be Terri behind her. She starts to experience a bad trip, and gets paranoid when another high group of people she comes across starts laughing in her direction. The word gets to Dani, and she goes to take a walk. She agrees to it and initially enjoys the trip until Pelle says that the group is like his family. The group takes magic mushrooms, but Ingemar offers Dani a special tea since it has a better taste. They drive out to the Harga and meet Pelle's brother Ingemar (Hampus Hallberg), plus an English couple named Simon (Archie Madekewe) and Connie (Ellora Torchia). Dani joins Christian and his friends for the trip. Pelle also tries to console Dani over her loss, stating that his parents had also passed away, but the mere mention of it triggers her, and she goes to the bathroom to cry. While he steps out of the room, Pelle talks to Dani about the midsommar celebration, and their tradition of choosing a May Queen at the end of the celebration. However, Dani is more upset that Christian is only now telling her about the trip, which they are set to leave for within two weeks.ĭani and Christian go to hang out with his friends. Christian invites Dani to be nice, and although she accepts, Christian thinks she doesn't want to go since she's still reeling from the murder-suicide. Josh, in particular, is interested since he wants to write about the experience for his anthropology dissertation. The celebration occurs every 90 years and lasts about nine days. She hangs out with Christian and his friends and learns about their trip to Sweden to a midsommar celebration in the Harga, a village where Pelle grew up. Several months later, Dani tries to contain her grief. Christian goes to Dani's apartment to console her. We then see authorities going into Dani's parents' home, where Terri has flooded the house with carbon monoxide, killing her parents before stuffing the tube into her mouth and taping it there. Dani calls Christian again and is wailing hysterically. Josh and Mark think Christian should just end it with Dani since it's clear he's wanted out of the relationship for a while, and as they are planning an upcoming trip to Sweden (Eastern Europe), Pelle suggests they will meet lots of other women. After he hangs up, she gets a call from an unknown number. Christian assures Dani that this is just another one of Terri's episodes, but he adds that Dani only feeds into Terri's antics. Dani then calls her boyfriend Christian Hughes (Jack Reynor), who is hanging out with his buddies Josh (William Jackson Harper), Mark (Will Poulter), and Pelle (Vilhelm Blomgren). She expresses concern over her bipolar sister Terri (Klauda Csanyi), who left her a cryptic message recently. College student Dani Ardor (Florence Pugh) calls her parents but is sent to voicemail. We then see images of dark, snowy forests with the sound of old folk singing playing in the background. The film opens with a mural of a bizarre, eerie ritual taking place. ![]()

![]() ![]() Offering you enough, without overwhelming you. That’s what I assume A Wonderful Life is striving to maintain here. That’s a shame, because the core gameplay loop of any farming sim, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life included, is a cryptonite-like combination of compelling and calming. The game may have had new content added since the original’s release back in 2003, but the foundations are feeling incredibly dated two decades later. Though, in my experience, only the same three or four characters would wander past, and one of them was a very annoying child that wouldn’t buy anything because he didn’t have any money anyway. And you can set up a shop in the middle of town and sell items. There’s an archaeological dig site, which has a limited amount of items and dig spots you can excavate each day - though this does expand with each ‘Chapter’ of the game. That all sounds quite a lot, but before my first year in the game had come to a close, I soon realized that, actually, Forgotten Valley is very much stuck in the past of the farming sim genre.įishing can earn you some extra cash, but the number of different species seems limited. In terms of changes over the original, this ‘Story of Seasons’ version adds pronouns and customization options to the character creator, gives you different outfits to purchase and wear, adds more crops to those originally on offer, adds more romance options including same gender, and enhances the various events that take place throughout each year. ![]() You’ve inherited a rundown farm from your father and travel to the sleepy town of Forgotten Valley to give revitalizing it your best shot. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life aims to freshen up the 2003 original, but the premise remains the same. It was a heart-warming experience, encountering the cast of weird and wonderful characters all over again, but soon enough the cracks in this remake/ remaster started to show. The guitar-twanging soundtrack kicked in and transported me back to playing the original, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, on the GameCube over a decade ago now. Within minutes of booting up Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life on PS5 ![]() ![]() Exposure to 2,4-D also occurs via food, water, dust, dirt, and pet exposure in non-agricultural households. Non-occupational exposure studies have reported that farm families are not the only population at risk of 2,4-D exposure. Those who live near areas of heavy agricultural 2,4-D use often have increased exposure from dermal contact, inhalation of soil particles, and contact with people, clothing, or pets that have been exposed. Farm family members are typically exposed to pesticides via multiple routes, including food, drinking water, inhalation and dermal exposure following spray drift or movement of volatile compounds. AHS research has also reported that 41% of spouses and 62% of children of the agricultural workers had detectable levels of 2,4-D in their urine pre-application. In prior evaluations in the Agricultural Health Study (AHS), 71% of 2,4-D applicators from Minnesota and South Carolina had 2,4-D in their urine prior to applying it to their crops, while 100% had it in their urine post-application. ![]() Ģ,4-D is rapidly absorbed via oral and inhalation routes. In 2012, 2,4-D was the most widely used herbicide in home and garden settings, roughly equal to glyphosate in use in the combined non-agricultural settings, and the fifth most heavily applied pesticide in the US agricultural sector. Roughly 600 US agricultural and residential use products contain 2,4-D as the active ingredient. Because increasing use is likely to increase population level exposures, the associations seen here between 2,4-D crop application and biomonitoring levels require focused biomonitoring and epidemiological evaluation to determine the extent to which rising use and exposures cause adverse health outcomes among vulnerable populations (particularly children and women of childbearing age) and highly exposed individuals (farmers, other herbicide applicators, and their families).Ģ,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is one of the most extensively used herbicides in the United States. ConclusionsĪgricultural use of 2,4-D has increased substantially from a low point in 2002 and it is predicted to increase further in the coming decade. Women of childbearing age (age 20–44 years) ( n = 2172) had 1.85 times higher odds than men of the same age. Children ages 6–11 years ( n = 2288) had 2.1 times higher odds of having high 2,4-D urinary concentrations compared to participants aged 20–59 years. The adjusted odds of high urinary 2,4-D concentrations associated with 2,4-D agricultural use (per ten million pounds applied) was 2.268 (95% CI: 1.709, 3.009). The frequency of participants with high 2,4-D levels increased significantly ( p < .0001), from a low of 17.1% in 2001–2002 to a high of 39.6% in 2011–2012. Of the 14,395 participants included in the study, 4681 (32.5%) had urine 2,4-D levels above the dichotomization threshold. Logistic regression models adjusted for confounders were fitted to evaluate the association between agricultural use of 2,4-D and urine 2,4-D level above the dichotomization threshold. Agricultural use of 2,4-D was estimated by compiling publicly available federal and private pesticide application data. ![]() Urine 2,4-D values were dichotomized using the highest limit of detection (LOD) across all cycles (0.40 μg/L or 0.4 ppb). Methodsĭata from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) with available urine 2,4-D biomarker measurements from survey cycles between 20 were utilized. The objective of this study was to examine trends in 2,4-D urinary biomarker concentrations to determine whether increases in 2,4-D application in agriculture are associated with increases in biomonitoring levels of urine 2,4-D. In 2012, 2,4-D was the most widely used herbicide in non-agricultural settings and the fifth most heavily applied pesticide in the US agricultural sector. 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is one of the most extensively used herbicides in the United States. ![]() ![]() ![]() Everything is well-designed in this game even if it’s just a 2D platform. ![]() ![]() The c example above uses substring(4, 5) to grab the last char. String c = str.substring(4, 5) // c is "o" - the last char String b = str.substring(0, 3) // b is "Hel" String a = str.substring(2, 4) // a is "ll" (not "llo") There is a more complex version of substring() that takes both start and end index numbers: substring(int start, int end) returns a string of the chars beginning at the start index number and running up to but not including the end index.
![]() I’m running an RTX 3080 Ti, so there’s no need for that – this is a premium headset, and I’m feeding it with premium hardware…and it is glorious. You can tinker with the resolution, running various upscaling settings in the aim of maintaining a stable and smooth framerate above 90. If you are using a 3000 series card, you should be good to run the Pimax 8K X at default settings, but you’ll want as much oomph as you can afford if you plan to push that refresh rate up to 114 Hz. The Pimax 8K X supports IPD of 60mm~72mm which should fit most heads. IPD is the measure of the distance between your two pupils and is one of the largest factors in VR comfort and nausea, outside of framerate, so learning your number and sticking with it goes a long way. You can also make some critical adjustments here that you should get familiar with asap – specifically the ones that let you set your refresh rate, resolution, and Inter-Pupillary Distance, or IPD. This is used for firmware updates and has much of the same setup as Steam VR’s Room Guide system, letting you define your boundaries, map a controller, check your base stations, add extra trackers, and even launch games. With the device connected, I recommend loading up the Pitool software from the official site. Adding googly eyes is entirely optional, but heartily recommended – the bigger the better. ![]() ![]() Plugging in the device and pressing the power button on the upper right of the headset brings it to life, as indicated by the soft green glow spanning the width of the device. To connect the Pimax 8K X you’ll just need one USB 2.0, one USB 3.0 and one DisplayPort 1.4 connection – no external box or power is required. So much so, in fact, that we simply don’t have a wide enough wireless band to allow it to be wire-free. Pushing 8K worth of power to the Pimax 8K X requires a ton of graphical horsepower. In that context, it’s all down to comfort, and the Pimax 8K X, despite how outward appearances might suggest, is actually quite comfortable for extended play sessions. That battery distributes the weight to the rear of the headset, which pushes the weight up to…you guessed it, 5.5 pounds. As such, I’ve purchased a fairly significant battery that keeps it powered for longer play sessions. The Oculus Quest 2’s battery life is, frankly, terrible. This might sound like a lot, especially when compared to the sveldt 1.9 pounds of the Oculus Quest 2, but hear me out – there’s more to that story. This is helpful as the device itself has a combined weight of about 5.5 pounds. It has padding both front and rear, and is angled to ensure that it rests in the saddle of your skull. This solid strap is reminiscent of the one on Sony’s PlayStation VR, adjustable via a turn knob on the rear. These can be removed and replaced with an also-included pair of headphones that rest against the ear instead of over it, allowing you to hear external sounds like your doorbell or a dog that needs to go outside. The particular model we are reviewing comes with the KDMAS – a solid headstrap with an integrated pair of high-quality headphones. ![]() It does this on a pair of fresnel CLPL lenses with an advertised refresh rate up to 114 Hz, and at an ultrawide 200 degree field of view. First and foremost, the 8K portion of the product name comes from pushing a whopping 3840 x 2160 resolution (better known as 4K) to each eye. ![]() Before we get into the weeds, let’s look over the specs on the device. ![]() |
